So it’s raining like crazy and thundering and lightning like crazy
Power barely clinging on as the lights flicker
After a little dinner I just walked out
Outside through the front door and walked down the street
I thought that it would be the sort of day we’d wander off to the meadow
Even though we’d get soaked soaked soaked
Hugging our knees to ourselves buried in the wet grass
The storm drains are little streams, water rushing in little whirlpools and leaping up a little on their way to rivers far far away
Even when it isn’t raining it sounds like it is because the heavy droplets are slipping off all the leaves
It’s almost completely dark, or so it seems
If you look towards the meadow though, the sun’s still quite up
Unearthly; more like it’s lit by lightning that never fades than by the setting sun
Stunning contrast of sky with its glowing clouds and the shadowed trees
So I walked, stepping around all the glistening little puddles towards that unearthly sky ‘til we got to the little opening between the bushes where we’d go to into the meadow
Me on my feet and you on your bike
Sanctuary right through that little opening where all you can see is grass and sky
But it’s rainy and it’s wet and it’s dark, and you’re not here, so I turned around and went back home
I miss you
